Language and register
The language used is to try and attract the audience that this type of slang appeals to. By using this language and picking words which aren't generic to our usual vocabulary allows the magazine to feel unique to this genre of music. The use of cover lines and ideas of what they can achieve from reading this magazine can attract the necessary audience. The register is informal and creates a different atmosphere than many magazines as the particular words used
Representation
In many of my photos the pictures contain sharp and smart clothing that references to the age and gender I am aiming for. Ages from 13 to 25 are targeted with this as this is the clothing that may be associated with this age range. In other magazines of this genre it contains similar clothing and both reflect the audience aimed towards, this is due to the use of clothing and colouring used throughout the magazine, these consist of red, black and white. This gives the magazines I researched and my own a darker effect constantly referring back to the genre choice, this is also done in the writing and language with slang applying to the genre of hip hop. In many magazines I researched the words 'hella' and 'yadimi' were consistent throughout although I did not use these regularly in my own magazine there is a sporadic effect of hip hop slang.
My target audience
My target audience is 12 to 30 years of age; this category is mainly based at men as this is the audience of this genre of magazines. Due to this being the audience I chose a different type of language as introduced slang to my front page. This was to attract people to the cover and be interested in reading this and applying to their needs or what they want. This is done through cover lines to introduce to them what is inside and why they should use this. Things such as 50 greatest rap hits makes many people be interested of what songs will be done in this. Many of my images also relate to my audience as they may be seen as that culture and style of music, the writing to match these photos help clearly present my theme.
